twitter bio: Mac’d out geek girl; love my husband, my dogs, design, photography, gardening, red wine, eating fresh and local. I do creative and social media stuff @ Van Belle Nursery.
And here’s the longer version: I have a husband of just over ten years and two great senior dogs. I love photography, cooking, writing, reading, gardening and learning about anything and everything. I live in the beautiful Fraser Valley in BC where fresh produce abounds and the 100 Mile Diet can actually be a reality, without much trouble. I’m a lazy proponent of this, preferring to just do what I can, when I can, to support local farmers and businesses. I work locally so it makes a difference to me.
I love my dogs, and don’t like mushrooms. I watch too much reality TV and don’t have enough self-discipline to sit down and read all the books I either buy or take out of the library. I need to work on this. The mushrooms – it’ll never happen. I’ve tried them and found them undesirable in every way.
However, I do eat broccoli now. AND brussels sprouts. I’m very hesitant about sushi, but life is too short to stay closed to new experiences.
I’m a Mac. And I’m a PC. I can mouse with my left and my right hands. I’m teaching myself how to be a graphic artist – it’s fun and daunting all at once. I take chaos and create calm serenity. In the words of my employer, I’m unflappable. I like being a go-to person.
I like wasting time playing video games. We have a PS3 that I use to wander in Skyrim with a really awesome sword in one hand and a fireball in the other. If the PS3 is occupied by hubby, I’ll curl up with my iPad and check out the latest pins on Pinterest.
My husband and I are best friends, and huge geeks. He’s more of an audiophile geek and I’m just into anything computery. I like high-gloss on a screen, not on a lipstick. I love Apple products because they are beautiful and they work. However, I have a unique soft spot for Microsoft because I worked for them *way back when*, and I still use a PC at work — so I find myself firmly planted in two worlds. This makes remembering all my keyboard shortcuts challenging, but I’m getting there.
This blog? Pretty much anything and everything. It’s not my first foray into this world, but I took a long break to regather my voice, and had a few sputtering starts along the way. In the meantime, twitter and Facebook have edged in and gotten me all social media savvy. So now the blog is an extension of social media, a place to take it beyond status updates and tweets. You can expect to find any of the following here: photography, cooking, wine, dogs, music, graphic design, gardening, health/diet and the general ramblings of a gen-x geek girl who prefers text to voice 9 times out of 10. Enjoy!
